Festival of Dangerous Ideas
With drastically reducing budgets facing education in Wales, there is a serious challenge for policy makers, providers and practitioners. It is an opportune time to think about innovative, sustainable ways to deliver public services. However, there seems to be limited space for creative debate about different solutions to service delivery.
Led by Learning and Work Institute, with support from Welsh Government and Big Lottery Fund Wales, the Festival of Dangerous Ideas brought together the key players in education to stimulate ideas and debate about the future delivery of education and training in Wales.
Held in mid February 2015 (16th-27th), the fortnight stimulated and started a discussion between providers and the general public, around a range of dangerous ideas surrounding education, such as:
- Is education wasted on the young?
- Has adult learning had its day?
- If the future is digital, have we lost our way?
- Do degrees prepare learners for the workplace?
