Howard Wyn Jones, is the Higher Education Lead for Higher National Diploma (HND) Public Services at NPTC Group.

Since joining the college in 2012, Howard has transferred a wealth of knowledge and experience from the Ambulance Service to significantly enhance the delivery of Higher Education in Public Services. His leadership and collaborative skills foster a positive and productive work environment, which played a key role in the development of the first BA (Hons) in Public Services offered by a Further Education College in Wales.

Howard’s commitment extends beyond programme development. He consistently creates learning opportunities for students, actively widening access to learners from across Neath Port Talbot and Swansea. This dedication has demonstrably increased HE participation from underrepresented groups, raising their educational aspirations and equipping them with valuable skills.

To prepare students for real-world scenarios, Howard incorporates major incident exercises with emergency services into the curriculum. This type of practical experience allows students to gain the confidence and competence to make an immediate contribution upon entering the workforce.

Course topics such as, leadership, wellbeing, diversity, emergency response, finance, work experience aim to equip students to make a positive social impact on the communities that they’ll serve.
