Learning and Work Institute’s 2018 Annual Raymond Williams Memorial Lecture was delivered by Cabinet Secretary for Education Kirsty Williams. The event was organised in partnership with The Open University in Wales and took place on the 10th October 2018 at the Norwegian Church in Cardiff.

The Lecture was called: ‘The deepest impulse’: education, economy, democracy & society which explored issues such as identity politics, social mobility and human rights. Kirsty Williams quoted not only from Raymond Williams, but a range of thinkers including Ted Kennedy, Mark Lilla and Orson Welles.

During the lecture, the Education Secretary made the case that the Welsh Government’s ‘national mission of education reform’ was “stepping forward in the spirit of a Raymond Williams’s long revolution”.
